Bob and Yolanda Espinoza are the two incredible artists who craft these humble gourds into works of ART. Bob carves and shapes the gourds, burns the designs onto the surface, then Yolanda paints them and does the bead work sometimes also fashioning clothes and other accessories for these imaginative creations.

All of our painted gourds are hand carved and often include beading, glass, or a dream catcher center

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
BOB AND YOLANDA ESPINOZA

Bob and Yolanda Espinoza have been living in the Capitan area of New Mexico since 2008 and they love it. Bob was born in Santa Paula, CA, then lived in the San Fernando Valley for 30 years working for big film companies processing 35 mm film negatives. Upon retiring he first moved to El Paso, TX, with Yolanda, then to Capitan when El Paso turned out not to be their dream retirement location. Both were impressed by gourd artistry through their visits to Sedona, AZ, and elsewhere so decided to start their gourd art company ten years ago. They both have innate talent and it shows.  First they hand pick the gourds to be transformed into their works of art. Bob carves the shapes then Yolanda paints them and adds the intricate bead work. Bob’s heritage is Native American, his grandfather was a full-blood Chumash and his mother was Mexican, so many of the gourds show this wonderful history. Both Bob and Yolanda are perfectionists in their work so all the gourds are of the highest quality craftsmanship and quality.
